The Pit and Park Dos Ojos

Dos OjosLocated just 20 minutes from Tulum Centre, Parque Cenotes Dos Ojos is one of the first parks that opened its gates to the public with easy access and basic facilities.

Surrounded by the mayan jungle, the Park Dos Ojos impresses you with several unique and different Cenotes,
clear blue water to dive, snorkel and take a refreshing swim in and la Juanita – a great mexican restaurant in the heart of the park, next to the Cenote Dos Ojos.
Here you can choose between many different typical mexican dishes – we recommend taking the regional plate (you won’t find it on the menu – ask your guide)

Cenote Dos Ojos

The cavern zone of Cenote Dos Ojos offers two guidelines which lead through different parts of the cavern.

The first one is called ‘The Barbie Line’ and the second dive here is ‘The Bat-Cave’.
The maximum depth in both of the dives at this site is 8 meters.

Cenote Dos OjosYour Guide will help you to build up your gear and make sure everything fits and is working correctly.
He will tell you about the History of Cenotes, Rules of Cenote-Diving and what to expect from the upcoming dive.

After gearing up and doing a final check, you will enter the shallow entry-area of Cenote Dos Ojos ‘first eye’ and start your dive.
You will dive along stunning dripstone formations, cave-ish tunnels and the beautifully light-flooded ‘second eye’.
There is two different dives you can choose from:

Find out why one site is named the ‘Barbie-line’ during your first dive, besides other features this dive offers.
Or dive the second option here – it will lead you through a massive submerged decorated hall, with openings that permit natural light entering and a big air dome in the center called the ‘Bat-Cave’.
A while into the dive, your guide will safely lead you to the surface in this air dome – careful with your heads!

Your guide will explain you the different formations that you can find inside the air dome you can enjoy the view inside the cavern before submerging again for the rest of the dive back to the entry-point and ending the first dive there.

Cenote The Pit

Cenote The Pit is found a little bit further into the jungle, and it lives up to its name.

This Cenote is deeper than the average shallow-running caves that are found under the jungle of the Yucatan Peninsula.

A magnificent hydrogen-sulfite cloud can be found at around 30 mts depth, and The Pits small entry allows a mighty spectacle as the dazzling sunbeams pierce the crystal clear water to complete the scene on sunny days.

As a photographers frequent favourite for unique wide-angle pictures and for catching the magical sun-light-show underwater, the pit definitely won’t disappoint any of its visitors

Further Info on SCUBA Diving in Cenote The Pit + Dos Ojos

This is an advanced Cenote diving combination, and local rules require recreational divers to have dived two less advanced Cenotes prior to diving in Cenote The Pit.
